Living Hope Bryan College Ministry—What are we about?
At Living Hope Bryan we see a person’s college years as a special window of time where willing students can most easily be impacted by God and trained to serve him for the rest of their lives. We believe that life is never really about us—but is always about God and others. With these goals in mind we wish to encourage students to focus on the person of Christ, grow in him, and learn to serve him well by serving others. What does that look like in real life?
Worship and the Word: The only institution Jesus ever founded was the church and we believe that consistently connecting with a local church is essential for spiritual growth. In addition to regular weekend services we also encourage students to take our core discipleship courses during their time in Bryan/College Station.
Small Groups, Big Change: In New Testament times believers in Christ often gathered in small groups, in people’s homes. We call our small groups Community Groups, and one thing that makes them unique is they are intergenerational, meaning they encompass all age groups. Why? Experience has shown us–as well as student feedback—that college students greatly benefit from this personal interaction with adults older than themselves.
Called to Serve: Although we wish to know God as well as we can and grow in him as much as possible, we realize this process is not just for us—but is actually for others. In light of this fact, and to help train students for a lifetime of spiritual service, we challenge them to be regularly involved in service through the church or an associated ministry. Specific places to serve within our church include the Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Spring Break or Summer mission trips, and a number of other Living Hope Bryan Ministry Teams.
